This is a true labour of love! This portrait of Frida Kahlo took many hours!
(It is 16 x16 inches on a 1 inch thick wooden cradle board)
This is a portrait is made almost entirely of paper! Tiny ripped up pieces of coloured paper to make her face and the background. The background also has copies of Frida and Diego's love letters written to each other AND quotes by Frida herself. There is also lace from lingerie used as flowers in her hair and the heart. There are metal birds and dragonflies which symbolize personal and creative freedom which Frida exuded throughout her life. Her earrings are gold leafs, upcycled from a necklace. Her shawl is lace and handmade paper.
This mixed media has been finished with two layers of Art Resin which not only protects the lace, paper and paint below, but it also provides a beautiful high gloss finish. This finish is durable and can be displayed in higher humidity rooms like kitchens or bathrooms. The surface can be wiped/dusted with a soft cloth and gentle glass cleaner.
I initially created this artwork for myself since I'm a huge Frida fan, but I am now willing to release her to another fan.
This painting is quite heavy and the price includes the postage that will be a little bit higher than my other paintings. Postage is included within Canada and the U.S. If you live outside these areas, additional shipping costs will be required. Thank you! :)
