This mixed media Hen and her chicks, is 16 x 16 inches and built on a wooden cradle board. It is created from using paint, and paper and found metal objects. In this case, the metal flowers were originally in a bracelet I found at a local second hand shop! The Hen's feathers are individually hand cut from beautiful colourful and textured paper. The fluffy chicks are also constructed from ripped up paper!
The entire painting is covered in 2 layers of Art Resin. This not only seals the collage in, but it also brings the colours to life while providing a gorgeous high gloss and durable (and wipeable) surface. Resined artworks can be displayed in higher humidity rooms like kitchens and bathrooms. This piece is an ode to motherhood and the unconditional bond between a mother and her babes.
The resin surface can be wiped/dusted with a soft cloth and a gentle glass cleaner.
